Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Gi Jiu Jitsu at Precision emphasizes leverage, positional dominance, and the pursuit of technical mastery through drilling and positional sparring. Led by Professor Tyrone Angolia, our Gi classes build a strong foundation in grip fighting, sweeps, passing, and submissions for practitioners at every level.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the gi is one of the cornerstone programs at our gym. We offer separate structured classes for beginners and for practitioners of all levels, both of which emphasize fine technical development, positional dominance, and strategic decision-making. All our gi classes are led by third-degree black belt Professor Tyrone Angolia, whose teaching emphasizes technical precision and “position-before-submission” strategy.

Gi Jiu Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art focused on takedowns, positional dominance, and ground control. The gi adds a unique layer of grips, control mechanics, and strategic complexity, allowing practitioners to threaten off-balancing, chokes, and joint locks to systematically break down opponents. Training in the gi cultivates patience, technical precision, strategic timing, and the discipline to master both yourself and your opponent.

Our Beginner Gi Class (Tuesdays & Thursdays) is designed for both beginners building a foundation and experienced students refining their mastery of the basics. Students learn fundamental techniques in modern sport gi Jiu Jitsu and how to connect them into effective combinations. This class is largely focused on drilling.

Our All-Levels Gi Class (Mondays & Wednesdays) is open to everyone, but challenges students with more intricate techniques and layered movement sequences. You’ll learn to adapt strategically to predictable threats and flow through multiple attack and control options from each position. This class blends focused drilling with positional sparring games and “featured matches” involving teammates preparing for competition.
