Youth Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Martial arts help kids build balance, coordination, and fitness in ways that last a lifetime. Our group classes also support the development of social skills, focus, self-discipline, confidence, and athleticism as students grow and master new movement abilities.

For specific times and classes, please see our Schedule.

Kids Jiu Jitsu teaches students the fundamentals of Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a structured, supportive environment using the traditional gi-and-belt uniform. Our classes are split up into 3 seperate age groupings.

Age 4-6     Age 7-9     Age 10-15

See our schedule here.

By splitting classes into three age-specific groups, we're able to tailor each class's curriculum to the right skill level and stage of development — so younger kids get age-appropriate coaching and older kids get more advanced instruction, instead of a one-size-fits-all class. If you have any concerns about which age group would be best for your child, just reach out — we're happy to help you figure out the right fit.

Students learn balance, coordination, and body control through age-appropriate drills, positional games, and basic takedowns, escapes, and submissions. Our program emphasizes respect, discipline, listening skills, and teamwork, providing kids with practical self-defense skills and a personal path to athletic growth and mastery.

We run on 10 week curriculum cycles and have tests and promotions at the end of each cycle.  Each student will be sent home with:

  • A copy of the curriculum they'll be working on
  • A schedule with specific dates for belt testing and promotions
  • Things they can work on at home to progress in class

This gives kids (and parents!) a clear roadmap of what they're learning and when they'll have the chance to test for their next belt.

The Coaches Assistant Program

Once students earn a gray belt they are eligible to be invited to be a CA(coaches assistant).

As a CA, students would help the younger students understand drills and see the details of the movements more clearly — essentially helping them learn by teaching.

We think this is a great opportunity for more advanced students to build confidence, deepen their own understanding of jiu jitsu, and start developing leadership skills. There's a lot of truth to the idea that we learn best by teaching others, and this is a chance to put that into practice.
